Land Rover Debuts 2018 Range Rover Sport PHEV And SVR Powertrains

If customizing and picking options for high-priced mid-sized luxury SUVs is one of your hobbies, the Range Rover Sport would most likely be your favorite. It's offered in 3 diesel or 5 petrol engine choices, 13 different trims, 8 different roof styles, 54 unique paints, and 3 different wheels. Range Rover SVRs also receive improvements to its chassis for improved handling along with a carbon fiber hood. 21-inch wheels are standard with 22-inch optional. 

For those who love things powered by lithium-ion batteries, the Range Rover Sport P400e is the premier plug-in hybrid. Priced from £70,800.00 to £84,400.00 (U.S. price TBA), the P400e combines a 296 hp 2.0-liter inline-four petrol engine with an 85kW electric motor to produce a total output of 398 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with optional all-wheel-drive the P400e accelerates from zero-to-60 mph in 6.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 137 mph. Drawing from a 13.1kWh lithium-ion battery pack mounted underneath the trunk floor, it's capable of a 31 mile all-electric range. When operated in parallel hybrid mode (default), the P400e can achieve up to 84.1 mpg (U.S.) aided by predictive energy optimization using GPS data to find the best time to switch between electric or petrol power. Charging time takes 2 hr 45 min from a 32 amp wall box or 7 hr 30 min from a 10 amp standard cable.

2018 Range Rover Sport models come equipped with new Matrix Pixel LED headlights, new grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, new 21- or 22-inch alloy wheel designs, and optional carbon fiber exterior pack. Interior improvements include gesture controlled sunblind, dual 10-inch touchscreen infotainment panels, additional customizable ambient lighting highlights, slimmer front seats, semi-aniline leather available on lower trims, new cubby box, 12-inch digital gauge cluster, and capacitive switches on the steering wheel.

Optional extras run the gamut for the new Range Rover Sport. Basic assistance like blind spot monitor and traffic sign recognition are part of a Driver Pack, while features involving high speed emergency braking, blind spot assist, lane keep assist, adaptive speed limiter, and adaptive cruise control are only available on a Driver Pro Pack. 360-degree camera, rear traffic monitor, and automatic park assist cost extra in the Park Pack and Park Pro Pack. Since you're in for a dime already, you might want to upgrade the audio system too. The base system is a 250w unit but a 12-speaker 380w, 18-speaker 825w, or 22-speaker 1700w Meridian setup is guaranteed to improve the aural experience.

2018 model year Range Rover Sports arrive in the U.S. early 2018. 2019 Plug-in hybrid models are planned for summer 2018.
